Hi,
I sometimes experience an error when printing, and am trying to find out if the cause is the printer, software or file.
Th issue is that sometimes in a print, a specific color will print out in a different shade (or it will be de-saturated, or darker). This will happen in such cases as: 1) I've done a test print, and then print the rest of the job and the specific color comes out differently than before. 2) In the same print job, some of the logos will come out correctly, and some with a different shade of the same color. 3) Two different logos use the exact same color value for a specific color, but one comes out darker than the other.
It's not the same color every time either. For instance, there was an Orange that had the error, and now it is a Grey that has the error.
Has anyone experienced a similar problem, or know of a solution to this problem?
I have had similar issues with our printers. I have found usually it is the printer at fault. We have set our corelDRAW colors, and had different colors from sheet to sheet with the same source file. Check your printer (we are using a sawgrass 400) and do a head cleaning or maintenance procedure as the manufacturer recommends. Ink level is critical also, it will impact the saturation level if you are low on any specific color of ink.
Hi, thanks for responding to my inquiry.
I will try those methods. We tried a cleaning and ink-change when it was the Orange, and it made no difference, which is why I thought it might be a software or file issue.
What type of printer are you using? Is your paper the same? check your printers firmware also....
You are correct...it is a software issue...you need to use the default setting on the color. Then, if you're using any windows version, it will automatically use a close facsimile...when it does then you set the color you want.
Good Luck...!
We had this issue forever with Corel. Corel's print dialog defaults back to CMYK all the time, even if you are not using a CMYK colormode. This will get you more bland colors, and less accurate color reproduction. It also happens when you export to PDF, but you can get around it if you are using a rip software by exporting your pages to PDF file, and each file make sure you go in and change output colors as "Native" instead of the default CMYK. This has to be the last thing you do in this window, because for some reason, it will default back. That has been an issue for years.
