I have been getting a round red circle with a bar through it when I have tried to use content exchange fills lately? Does anybody have a fix for this? thanks in advamce.
advance
it won't let me save or use any fills , I am logged in all right and have tried logging out then back in, Does anybody else have this issue? Is there a fix or should I just create a support ticket?
Content Exchange isnt' available in X8 either. A support ticket looks a good idea
Hi Sorry for the late reply. So I created a ticket and had a technician that was far from helpful, He was hard to understand as English obviously wasn't his first language. He had me try doing a reset of a systems folder, I was very dubious and asked him explicitly if it would upset my computer and he assured me it wouldn't.
So I did it and restarted windows, I run Corel on a Mac through Parallels, and I ended up with windows not reloading it was in a constant repairing windows screen, I left if for quite a few hours come back and still the same screen.
This was not good timing for me, as I had a deadline on a project looming. I had to reload another windows to parallels, and try re load 2017 but it was coming back with an invalid password message. I checked and tried time and time again but still the same message came back every time. At this point my stress levels were getting fairly high and a few expletives were said.
So I ended up downloading the 2020 trial version and using that to complete my project after loosing most of a day. I message said technician back and told him this was all due to him and his poor advice.
All I really ever wanted to do is to be able to save my own fills, the online content wasn't a big issue for me. And I ended up in this huge mess. I basically had to tell this technician To have a remote session with me in which he helped me through reloading 2017 on the new windows VM I had to create. I now have 2017 back, But in this process The edit bitmap button greyed out, something I use a lot when using draw
During that session I was messaging him to ask how I recover the original VM I had that has all my artistic media brushes I had created on it as well as a huge (around 2000) collection of fonts had had built up over the years. He nonchalantly told me to re-load these. Un-fortunately I haven't kept all the original font files as I did not see this happening a lesson learnt the hard way.
So it transpires that you can not save your own fills anymore due to it not been supported on my version, I was told by said technician that I should upgrade my program to the new version.I asked him about the edit bitmap button but he told me he can not help me with that! I still don't know why. I have been through the forums and found this issue but none of the fixes have helped me.
So to summarise I have had a really stressful time with all of this for such a simple thing. I wish I would never have tried to fix this issue and just have my system back how it was before the poor and inept advise I received. And then to be pushed to upgrade to the newer software was an insult as the way I feel about coredraw right now, I refuse to give them more of my money and deal with these and similar other issues.
Ultimately I would buy the Mac version but it is so foreign from the windows version its not funny, Its like learning a new program, real weird keyboard short cuts, no customisation and the list goes on. I don't understand why they don't make it the same interface and have the same keyboard shortcuts with the exception of the command / control difference between Mac and windows, just like other design software companies seem to be able to achieve.
I have owned The affinity suite for a few years now but have never really taken the time to learn it, But I am now taking time out and learning as much as I can to migrate over to that. Its a real shame I have used Corel now for over 25 years but they just don't seem to be able to tidy up certain issues. Or fix bugs and issues in the program, I have seldom had other design software crash but it happens all the time with CorelDRAW. 2017 is probably the most stable version I have used and experienced crashing rarely.
Sorry about the rant but I hope this may help someone out if they experience the same issues here.
