How to make a tye-dye pattern

Howdy, can anybody give me some guidance on how to make a tye-dye pattern in Corel draw & and or Photopaint? Any you tube videos out there? I've looked but haven't found any. Thanks in advance.

  • Easier in Photo-Paint, I would think. There is no magic formula, a lot of it is trial and error, i.e. making adjustments to get the look you want.

Begin with a new image in Photo-Paint with a white background. As you go through these steps, copy the current one to a new layer say you can easily backtrack through your steps.

    1. Use Paint tool to paint different colored stripes across the page, leaving some white space in between. These do not have to be neat or perfectly straight. Use the eraser tool if needed to add more white stripes if needed.

    2. Use Effects>Art Strokes, Watercolor or dabble to break up the color into smaller chunks, so to speak.

    3. Now for the magic...Use Effect>Blur>Zoom to get that circular striated look.

    4. Use Adjust Tone Curve to heighten color contrast.

Screenshot with a few brief notes as I added layers.
