Did anyone notice a big problem with the Smart Fill tool? The tool is unpredictable and delivers unexpected, inconsistent outcomes. Sometimes it is absolutely impossible to use. No reason, no explanation. Spent hours, days and weeks fighting it. Contacted experts. Still no resolution.
Hello Sawyer,
It has been this way for as long as I can remember. Every time i use it, it is with a sense of apprehension and dread. The documentation mentions a tolerance setting which mysteriously is not to be found anywhere on the interface Until the powers that be at Corel decide to do something, which they haven't for ages now, you have to suffer! It is one of the buggiest tools in CorelDRAW ever
This is odd....I have never had any problems with it at all? What are the unexpected outcomes you get?
I can see See suku knows exactly what I am talking about.
Mike in Canada, I can apply fills inside objects and the fills stay within the objects. Then I apply a different fill outside on the previously filled objects, and the outside fill "leaks" inside and replaces the previously applied fills. You will make sure there are no gaps or fills to leak through, no duplicate lines on the top of each other, and yet it happens. And, as suku noted, there is a mentioning of gap tolerance in the help file, but that tool is nowhere to be found. You change combine objects, or you break curves, no certain fix. I really wish this smart fill worked properly since this is one of the major tools for me to use. "Apprehension and dread" mentioned below are the right words!
Just draw a random set of say 10-15 rectangles, so that they intersect in a way to give you a lot of smaller rectangles. Then start using the dumb 'Smart Fill' tool to pick the spaces between. As you go, you will notice the smart fills suddenly and inexplicably overflow into adjacent areas.
