Hi,
I am unable to get my Knife Tool to function in CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2017. I did find video tutorials on how to use this tool, but upon following the same steps from the tutorials, my Knife tool just won't actually make the cut after I create one.
What I am trying to do is just cut off the visible edges of an enlarged Boundary on a shape that ends in a triangular point. On one try I was able to cut the object itself but only vertically, and have not yet been able to diagonally cut the edges of the boundary off.
Is it possible to cut a Boundary with the Knife tool for editing?
Appreciate any information or resources!
Try drawing a polygon encompasing the shape you are trying to cut and then use the trim tool.
See attached.
I have tried that method, as well as the Smart Fill tool, and nothing works. I can make a cut vertically to both the object and the expanded outline, but not in any other direction. Is there a specific setting to be able to cut diagonally? If it is just a bug in my file or my system, do you have any recommendations for how to proceed?
You could have something in the group of objects that is not letting you use that function.
I notice you are refering to an expanded outline.
Try ungrouping everything and breaking it all apart Ctrl+K then re-group it all and now try the knife tool.
Can you post the file here, you will have to ZIP it up so the forum software will let you post it.
Also having a problem with the knife tool. When one cuts from node to node in an object, it doesn't work. But, if one cuts from a place on the closed curve (not on a node) it works. In all of the previous versions of CD, one could cut from node to node.
I was able to get it to work by first converting my outline to an object. Then I could edit it like an object.
