So we are are all aware that Twain is not supported by Corel or Windows now, which makes most of my scanners useless. The other way is to use WIA which has few controls and when I use it to acquire image in Corel 8 or 19 it brings in the image as if it was 400px on my 72px monitor. In other words the image which should be 11.5 x17 is now huge. Since I am using the scanner to copy patterns into the computer so I can trace them, they have to be exact. I have no idea how to make the image the correct size because the WIA box doesn't have any measurements/sizes other than the px, I was hoping to scan to 72 and see it that would work but it won't allow for a scan smaller than 100px.Can someone help me.ThanksOriole
I have a somewhat old Epson flatbed scanner. I have to use Epson's own "Epson Scan" utility to do any flatbed scanning work. You might check and see if the company that made your scanner has a scanning utility that is compatible with current versions of Windows.Thankfully my Epson scanner connects to the computer via USB rather than a dead cable standard like SCSI. In the 2000's I literally gave away a Linotype-Hell SCSI-based scanner; I paid around $1200 for that thing in the late 1990's. The scanner was pretty nice. It hurt getting rid of it, but all it was doing was consuming desk space. Film scanners have been going the same route.
Thanks for the reply, it is interesting because I did contact Plustek and they had a driver that they said would work with 64bit. I installed it twice and both times it crashed windows 10 so I couldn't get out of the lock screen on a restart. This morning I saw that the scanner was in both CD8 and 19. It seemed to scan in both programs but then hung without dropping the scan on the page. Weird. With 19 it crashed the program so had to alt+delete it. Coreldraw 5 still works fine. I figured out that WIA at 100px seems to be a match for the scan from Twain. When I put the WIA scan over the Twain scan they matched up but this was in CD5.I also see the WIA on CD19 keeps telling me that I don't have enough memory??? CorelDraw19 has been such a joke. I posted how slow it was and that they told me to get a new computer, which I did and it is still so slow that I can leave and get a cup of coffee while the wheel spins. I can't tell if this is a Windows 10 issue or CD issue.
I'm kind of confused by the versions of CorelDRAW you mention. When you say "CorelDRAW 19" do you mean CorelDRAW 2017 (which was the 19th version)? Or is it CorelDRAW 2019? I remember CorelDRAW 2019 being pretty buggy. CorelDRAW 5 was released back in the mid 1990's; I would be surprised if that ran at all on Windows 10.
It would be good to check with Plustek to make sure they gave you the correct and most up to date driver for your specific scanner model. Does the scanner have its own scanning software application?
It was 2019 and as you said was and still is buggy, slow and crashes all the time so I can't use it. CorelDrawx8 is another one I have but it is also buggy on some of the things I use all the time so again I don't use it, so I have been using x5 since I bought it. I had to make a new menu bar at the top of the page so I could see it but other than that it is still faster and more stable than the other two on my AMD computer. I just wish I hadn't given away some of the other versions I had to some of my students. I know I had x7 and I'm trying to find a used copy since I gave mine away.
The scanner is a large format flatbed. It does have a program that comes up when you select Twain, but just a bare bones app when you pick WIA.
The chat help on at Plustek did know what the problem was and did give me a link for the driver. It was after I got my computer back from the lock screen problem that I saw I did have a choice of twain in 2019, only after it scanned 2019 crashed.
I like the set up of the Scrapbook/Connect docker but that is really all I like about it. I did try and download the latest trial but it wouldn't install, and I forgot to see what the error was.
