Hello,
I own a print shop and we use Corel X4 for all our designing and layout projects.
Recently we have been having the A.R.M. crash on us quite frequently. It tends to happen after we work for a few mins after we import a jpeg/bmp/psd we scanned from our machines. However it does ARM crash at times from images we obtain from other graphic designers. Once it crashes the file will not even boot and keeps the ARM popup upon startup.
However, we installed the X5 trial and it let our files open without the ARM error. We resaved the files but still get the ARM error when using our full X4 suite. We purchased X4 only in April and are not willing to purchase X5 just for this issue. Is there a fix or suggestion we can use for X4?
Thanks for any help!
You may have a corrupt (Corel) desktop file. The simplest way to cure this is to press and hold down the F8 key while starting CorelDRAW (X4). When the pop-up appears, asking if you want to reset to factory defaults, answer "Yes".
Once Corel Graphics Suite X5 trial period expires, you may want to either purchase it at the upgrade price, or remove it. If you remove it, you should put the X4 DVD in your drive and do a Repair. This will re-associate the correct files to version X4 of the graphics suite (which was reset by the installation of X5).
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Hugh´s informations are correct, but if you give up the X5 version, REMEMBER to save your files in any previous version of CorelDRAW, or you will be NOT able to open / import any file produced in X5 version.
Thank you very much, it appears the workspace was the issue. I had assumed this a few months ago but this verifies it.
We will probably stay with X4 since we have had issues with the odd numbers (probably just superstition).
Once again thank you very much for the fast respone, you have saved us alot of headache.
Good to hear that you are back up and running.
Take Silvio's advice, before your trial date expires (usually 15 days, in total length).
