I am using Corel 10 on XP SP2. Is there any way to have a multicolor image traced with the results going to different layers by color? I need to be able to separate the vectorized image by color. Any other way or version to do this?

This can be done with CorelDRAWs Find Objects. Please go through the options available in the Find Objects Menu. You have an option to find similar objects like the one you select. Check & select the other options as per your need & try finding.
In your case you can specify ------ Find all curves with Specific fill colour (The one that your traced object is filled with. Select find all & Use CTRL + G for grouping the find results.
