Upgrade advice from X4 to X7 or X8

Hi,

Windows 10 refuses to let me install my trusty copy of X4 (very annoying!)

So if I was going to go down the upgrade route to X7 or X8 - can I install upgrade software without the original X4 ACTUALLY being on the PC already?

I have the serial key as these are my Boxed original versions of course...

With the upgrade versions around £200 and the full versions twice this, I really hope I can look at the upgrade route...

If not - check mate!

    Yes, I believe you should be able to upgrade with just the serial key from any previously purchased full version. On install you should be prompted to provide the serial key.
    I'd go with X8.
