This has probably been beat to death but I see no ready answers in this forum....even though the question has been asked at least once before (not sure how active this forum is). So I thought I would try again.
I have CorelDraw X4 running on Windows 10 x 64. Everything seems to be functional (so far) except the menu bar (and the create new from template link in the welcome screen).
I can open templates (cdt) from the file menu (even though I can't see the menu on the menu bar until I run my cursor over it) so I'm not real bothered by that issue. But I would like to regain the menu bar and the menus.
Is there any answer / work-around for this problem?
Maybe there is no answer. If so, I'd like to know one way or the other. And would appreciate any advice or comments...
You might look at some of the approaches described in this thread in the X5 forum: Windows 10 and Menu bar.
I don't know that they will work, but some of them specifically reference problems with the Menu bar.
After following your link I was prepared to try some of the solutions presented. But towards the end I saw a post that made me check the compatibility settings for the shortcut. Turns out both CorelDraw and PhotoPaint were running with Windows Vista.
"Just enable compatibility with Windows XP (Service Pack 3) on the shortcut properties and that's all."
This worked for me....but now, as I launch CorelDraw or Photopaint, I get a pop-up UAC window that asks if I want "to allow this app to make changes to this device". It's not a big deal but it is annoying.
And FWIW, in my opinion Corel would generate more goodwill and ultimately more business by fixing some of these annoying problems. I've already begun to move away from CDGS for that very reason. Paint.net (nevermind Gimp) does everything that I want PP to do. And I suspect...from my initial explorations...that Inkscape will do even more than CD. And they are free and 100% compatible with Windows 10.
I've been a Corel user for many years...maybe as much as 40 years....I would prefer to remain a CDGS user but on my terms not Corel's or Microsoft's.
