This has probably been beat to death but I see no ready answers in this forum....even though the question has been asked at least once before (not sure how active this forum is). So I thought I would try again.
I have CorelDraw X4 running on Windows 10 x 64. Everything seems to be functional (so far) except the menu bar (and the create new from template link in the welcome screen).
I can open templates (cdt) from the file menu (even though I can't see the menu on the menu bar until I run my cursor over it) so I'm not real bothered by that issue. But I would like to regain the menu bar and the menus.
Is there any answer / work-around for this problem?
Maybe there is no answer. If so, I'd like to know one way or the other. And would appreciate any advice or comments...
How did you install CorelDraw X4 on Windows 10 using VirtualBox?
You will need to install a Virtual environment such as VirtualPC or VMware, then install Windows XP on it and CorelDRAW X4.
Hello.
I am impressed by your case of CorelDraw GS x4 running on Windows 10 x64 - that is (was) my case too. I had it in Windows 7 Pro and then I installed Windows 10 over it, and it kept all installed software I already had. But after the Undo in PhotoPaint stopped working and the Capture too, I uninstalled it and tried to re-install it. And that was the big mistake! It said it DOESN'T INSTALL in Windows 10 !! Still, it was running in Windows 10 before that !
So, I'm curious did you INSTALL it in Windows 10 or you had it before like me ?
I knew of these problems and deliberately installed Win 10 over the top of an existing Win 7.
I don't use Corel as much as I used to -- I'm slowly migrating to other apps such as Pain.net in place of Photo-Paint and Inkscape in lieu of CorelDraw. Paint. Net gives me enough, Inkscape leaves a lot to be desired.
So I muddle along but I don't have all that many problems with CDX4 as you seem to have had and most of them are administrative...such as not being able to access my templates directory from the 'Welcome window.'
All that said, it just illustrates that between Corel and Microsoft, if they really wanted to make it work, they could. Microsoft is not interested and Corel just doesn't want to lose the money from people being forced to upgrade. I guess that's understandable but in the same context and for the same reason, so is the piracy that's so rampant on Ebay.
I see. Thanks for your suggestions about replacements, I'll throw a look.
On the other hand, I like saying that money is a very intelligent and useful invention but we humans never use any invention wisely. In the case of money, 'Greed' has taken place under different names like "development", "growth", "creating jobs" etc. that are all ok, but still, we all and most get our lives into a kind of a "Financial/commercial dictatorship".
Best vibes!
