Hi Phil,
a picture tells a thousand works, so I have attached a small example below from my Bump Map preview window. I can't complete it because it has a bug in X5 and crashes the application. The bump map is applied to a plain blue sky:
As you can see, it applies a raised texture/pattern to an image. Here is the official definition from the Help file:
Bump map — adds texture and patterns to an image by embedding its surface with a relief based on the pixel values of a bump map image. The pixel values of the bump map image represent surface elevation. You can use a preset bump map or load a custom bump map image. You can specify the surface and lighting properties of the effect.

Hi Tweed,
Grrrr, give me your copy of Photo-Paint!! LOL. Just kidding. You are one of the lucky ones...for the majority of X5 users the Bump Map feature does not work and crashes Photo-Paint. Thank you very much, by the way, for illustrating the feature for Phil.
Best regards,Brian.
Hi all,
I have tested on bump map on PP X5 (on Win XP Pro SP2 + CDGS X5 SP2 installed) an it seems that works fine for me.
Best regards,
Mek
Hi Mek,
a lot more people have stated the Bump Map feature is not working for them than those who have stated it is. I notice you are using XP and so is Tweed. I haven't looked at these details before, so maybe it works fine in XP and not in Windows 7? Maybe that is something which needs to be looked into.
Thanks for letting us know that yours works as well.
This is what a lot of users (including myself) are getting with the Bump Map feature:

Hi Brian,
I just tried PP X5 SP1 in XP using VMware virutal OS and it's OK, so there's definitely a problem with Win 7 - it crashes in Win 7 for me too.

This kind of flaky crashing happens In PP X5 way too often, under seemingly unpredictable circumstances. To the point where both of us have found PP X5 to be unusable. Just the other day, I set Draw X5 to launch PP X4 instead of PP X5 for round tripping. I need to get work done.
