How to remove a white background from a jpeg file?

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I didn't create the logo and the jpeg is the only version I have. So, I pulled the jpeg file up in PP and saved it as a CPT file. Then I closed and reopened the file. I did the Drop Shadow thing like you said and everytime I click on the white background, it tells me that "This tool requires one object to be selected" and does nothing when I click okay. I try to click on the background and do the drop shadow thing again, and get the same message.. I don't know what I'm doing wrong!

Well you got to solve it in one way. Just for the future. The Background object in Photo-Paint has to be made into an object/layer. Sounds odd, right. But that's what it us. So, although your own solution worked for you, do like this: open your kmage as a CPT file once again. Then go to the Background object and click the icon on the Background object. That will make it to a simple object. Now use the Color Transparency tool again.

Try this out, it's a very nifty tool to use.

Hello! Okay, it appeared that I was able to "remove" the background using both of the above tactics. If you print the graphic on a white piece of paper, it appears that the background is gone. But I need the graphic to be on top of a new "background" of a conical fountain fill. When I print it out, there is a box around the graphic that looks darker than the fountain fill. You can see it. How do I remove it??? Help!

the best way to answer is if you can attach a file. Without see the file, we just can imagine what's happen.
