My post Why does Corel Draw Graphics Suite X5 feel more like beta software? explains everything im having an issue with X5. In an effort to log the issues with this software, Im asking that if your an X5 User and are having file corruption, crashes, freezes and other such fun stuff happening to you killing your time and money while in Draw or Photopaint, please post it here.
In order to keep it all clean and easy for someone at Corel to follow, please only list issues for X5 and not turn it into a discussion out of topic.
Please, there is no need to try to defend Corel here as Iv used Corel since version 4 (not X4), so thats a long time using it.
Hello,
I have got some problem with Corel Draw X5 Versions. When i type "Divehi", "Farsi", "Arabic", "Hebrew" using the windows default language(using language bar) with fonts it seems to be going left to right, but in x5 if i write on a text box it seems to be okay. but normally we cant write, because "Divehi", "Farsi", "Arabic", "Hebrew" these languages are written from right to left.
Maybe there is a Unicode Barrier in x5 that has to braked so that languages like yours and mine will be typed on CorelDraw. i use "fasyha thaana word processor" application named "Friend" wich enables language to be written smoothly in earlier versions but this aplication is not compatible with x5.
in Draw:
I was making a pretty basic diagram, used the star tool... I changed the colour of the fill and it crashed.
The message box just says "CorelDRAW(R) has stopped working Windows is checking for a solution to the problem..."
... no error code or anything (that may have been helpful), just about an hour of work gone.
The colour pickers are still not fixed in Draw or PP... eg. the 3D cube pickers still don't allow you to drag your mouse around to pick a colour, and the selection can go outside the cube colour area on the right side.
Problem with this thread is that all kind of issues are thrown under a meaningless header. I'm sure the intention was good when creating it, but no one will be able to easily track a problem and a possible solution here. These groups are for helping people with specific problems, as well as discussing things regarding the suite (and some OT subjects now and then). They are monitored by Corel but I doubt they spend time reading everything that's said, especially if it gets buried deep.I bet many of the problems mentioned here have simple solutions. If they are posted under clear headers ("Help!" or "X5 problem" are not very good) it is easy for everyone, including Corel employees, to see what the problems are and hopefully offer solutions. It is also easier for anyone with the same problem to find later.
That's why I suggest to put everything in separate threads instead.Personally I stopped following this one a long time ago.

yep, new threads cost nothing, it's the best way. One huge thread is too chaotic to follow.
I guess I saw this thread as a deposit place for bugs. I actually don't think everyone should read it because the bugs don't have solutions that we can fix. It would make for really boring reading. This thread is a little conversational, but mostly it's a boring list. I thought it was mostly for the benefit of Corel as a central repository for them to get feedback on bugs.
I totally agree that if I expected help from the community that I would start a thread. That of course would be the most reasonable.
I just don't want to be some annoying guy who makes a new thread for every little tiny bug... that would be really annoying to the rest of the community who have real issues they want to talk about... eg. what's the best way to do x y z etc. At least in here, the community can just avoid it if they want to... which probably most people do anyway.
I guess I see threads as mostly for specific problems that *can be solved by us.* However, if it's just a list that's intended as a oneway communication to Corel, isn't one thread better for that? I guess I must be wrong because I haven't seen Corel employees responding to much on this thread in forever (or never?). Touchee I guess.
I'd be fine to let this thread go if I had any idea that it's contents were accounted for. I see this thread as a stain on X5, that (I think) should remain until the product is cleaned up.
Also, what should happen to all the bugs reported here? Should we let them go?... well that would have been a huge waste of time for everyone who contributed (right?). Should we assume they've been read?... or should we make new threads for each point?... that seems like work (which I'm not in favour of). If we as the community, are hoping to have sp2 fix all these bugs, shouldn't the thread's contents stay live? Looking at the sp2 "wants" thread, it hasn't received any complaints I don't think and it's also a big list? This is the same idea (except the name is a bit off... true). One ring to rule them... I mean, One thread to help Corel fix the bugs. If the list is divided, won't the specific problems easily get forgotten to time?... That seems like a bad idea... and I personally don't want to go to the trouble of splitting this thread up (work = ).
(the questions above aren't rhetorical... I want to know what you guys think).
Anyway... this thread will probably die to time anyway because I think we've all reported maybe 99% of the bugs that exist... and those who haven't found bugs maybe represent most of the users.
Some days ago I've downloaded the trial version of the Graphics Suite X5 and tried to perform many of my usual tasks in PHOTO-PAINT. It was quite complex photo editing (long manipulations with objects and cutout masks) and the program ran fast and stably on my system (two AMD Opterons 246 (2.0 GHz), 2 Gb RAM, Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, hardware bought in 2005 :) ). I really like the new PHOTO-PAINT (especially new colour management system) and even was ready to buy the X5... However every time I tried to import a RAW file in 48 bit mode (which is used by default) I experienced PHOTO-PAINT hangs and finally crash after the file was imported and I started to edit it. Very sad :( Corel PP X4 never hangs or crashes on my machine... Waiting for a service pack 2
P. S. Strangely but working with imported camera RAW files in 24 bit mode was rather more successful while imported 48 bit files crash PP X5 almost immediately... PP X4 does this absolutely with no problems.

Layer titles are cut off way too soon. For example, "menu s2" is cut off and there's tons of space left for the rest of the "2".
very minor: when you click a layer title to change it, it moves over left and the eye, print, and pencil icons disappear (but come back after the renaming... it would be more solid if the renaming happened in place. The main reason to fix it is if you click and then click to set where you want to type, the title has moved over and then you're back to not-renaming it mode. Again, this is a very tiny thing, but tiny things like this make the program feel a bit clunky/unpollished.
oops.
I'm not sure how this happens... just pasted something small into page 2 of a Draw document.
work on it a bit, move it to page 1.
did some more work
now there's 2 groups with 0 things in them. I wasn't even working with groups. Where'd the groups come from?... and why are there 0 things in them?
When you open an illustrator file by double clicking the AI file... the file name should be preserved when it gets openned... not changed to "Untitled-1"
This is annoying because if I want to quickly export to a jpg or whatever, but I want the name the same, you have to type it in... which isn't a big deal unless the file name is long or complicated.
I forgot to mention that this works properly with psd files, but not with ai files.
Also, if you go right-click anywhere (eg. desktop), make a new CPT file (for example)... then NAME it... then double click it to open in PP... you're taken to the make a new file dialog - which makes sense since the file doesn't know how big it should be HOWEVER, it should autofill in the name since you already specified it before you double clicked the file. Right?
