Hi,
Using CorelDraw X5 how do I draw a cogwheel?
Thanks
Simon Yee
Someone will probably come up with a simpler method, but here's one for a simple cogwheel:
1) Make a bar the width you want the tooth of the wheel to be and center it in a circle that is the outer diameter of your cog.
2) Find the intersect of the two shapes. This makes the top of the tooth rounded.
3) Copy, rotate and center as many teeth as you need.
4) Weld them together.
5) Create a circle the size of the inner diameter of the cog, and center it on the teeth.
6) weld it all together.
If wanted, put a smaller circle centered on the wheel and extrude for 3D if desired.
OldBob has given a good illustrative solution. You can try it with a Polygon too. Add nodes to polygon to get a cogwheel.
I really like the first 2 suggestions, they seem fast and easy to perform. Another method is as follows:
This sounds a lot more complicated than it is. I am releasing a macro soon for orbiting shapes around a circle amongst several other things. In the video below the macro is basically performing the steps shown above, but at a slight distance from the circle (inside the circle). It also applies an extrusion and applies srop shadow at the end.

Hi.
This cool commercial macro GDG Ring Around the Shape might work for you. Lot's of possibilities.

Hi John,
what a fantastic macro and useful in many circumstances. I had a look on your site and saw it in action there too.
Best regards,Brian.
