When I group a few objects together, and apply drop shadow to the group, I cannot edit the individual object in the group (cannot pick it to move it or resize it etc) without removing the drop shadow.
Hi,
Click on the Drop Shadow of the group object. This will select the whole group. Now Click on the object you want to select holding Ctrl & Alt keys together.
Not exactly.
From my experience, if you have any number of grouped objects stacked on top of each other with a drop shadow applied to them...you cannot select each individual object by holding down the Ctrl + Alt keys as stated.
You would only be able to select the bottom most object with the drop shadow applied. Unless of course I am missing something here.
Please correct me if i am wrong.

You are probably not clicking on the Drop Shadow part to select the group. You have to click on the drop shadow of the group object and not the object itself.
Then Ctrl+Alt click will allow you to select any object of the group you want to.
When the objects are stacked on top of each other, I can only select two of them and not all three
The other guy is correct, although it is a bit funky. Select the drop shadow group, press ctrl+alt+shift, click an object in your group. You will see the object show up in object manager. Repeat this (deselect all then select the drop shadow group, then key press etc) for each object you want to manipulate. For the top object, use key press ctrl+alt. This will work even if each object completely covers the one below. What's interesting is once you have managed to select an object and it shows up in the group, it stays visible in OM.
Try selecting the yellow object....It can't be selected with a drop shadow using Ctrl+Alt or Ctrl+Alt+Shift (the blue object at the very bottom, red middle, blue top)
If you figure it out let me know.
HI Juan.
Can you attach the cdr file to the post?

John,
Is there a way attaching a file that is larger than the maximum 256k allowed on this forum? The file is 391kb.
Never mind...I figured it out.
Here's the .CDR file
Hi.
Looks like you only need to hold Ctrl. I select the item upon a second mouse click.
On this video I am only holding Ctrl.
