Hi all.
Im having a real problem with this. Im trying to cut out the centre of the letter R below. Normally I break curve apart, select the centre, and trim it from the outer. I can then select the centre piece and remove it. As you can see, this has worked with the letters P & O. When I do it with the R it seems to have worked, to the point where I can even select the centre and remove it, but when I put it back over a coloured background, it is still white. Anybody know the answer?
Hello purplepanda; If you combine your text after you brake it apart the centers will become part of the graphics.

thanks for your suggestion george. however, once I have combined the text, i then cannot select the centre to trim it from the middle. In a combined state, it is no different to when I started Im afraid.

If you wanted to select just the center of a letter Iets say a "O" you would convert it to curves, brake it apart, select the center and move or delete it. IF you had scanned the text some times it will make a duplicate of the lines. And I take it you are working in Draw. Why not post the file you are working with and we can take a look at it for you.
thats exactly how I have always done it george, and indeed it worked as per usual on the letters P & O. For some reason, no matter what I try, I just cannot get it to work on this letter R. It always leaves it as per my image, the centre always remains white. I havent scanned the text, it was just written using a font installed on my computer. Yes I am working in draw. My next step i think is to try and draw out the letter R using the bezier tool and see if it works then.

With the Shape tool, select the inner circle of the letter 'R' and reverse the direction of the curve and then combine it with the outer curve of the letter.....
