I'm converting a BMP to High Quality Trace/Contour. It worked fine until a week ago, then started to degrade. First it only crashed once I adjusted the sliders to what I wanted, never completing. Now the runtime error pop-up show up and freezes the program the moment the PowerTrace GUI shows up or starts to process the default trace setting and just sits at about 10%.I've checked my Win7 Events logs and while the runtime error detail can vary a bit, they are more or less the same ones over and over.I've updated my Visual Studio 2005 and 2008 (the ones native to X5), no go. So I uninstalled and re-installed the entire Studio Suite. Still no-go.If I can't fix this, I may need to re-install my older Graphics Suite 12 but having rarely used Draw then, I don't know if the PowerTrace is available or as tweakable as in X5.This is a bit frustrating for my project is 99% completed and needs this last conversion.
What could be interfering/causing this?Thank you.~ Philip
Did you have any reason to think Visual Studio might be involved? Was that part of the error message? If not, I think you'd do better updating .net 4.0.
I'd also suggest you delete your temporary files ( start > run > %temp% ) fairly often.
Thank you very much, HarryLondon -- the .NET update/reinstall fixed the problem! My .NET must have gotten corrupted somehow.Isn't it nice when things can be fixed with ease once in a while? - lol.
Hi harryLondon , I have just come across this thread. I hope this gets to you as I have found no other solution.
I have been having the same trouble with tracing in X5. I cleared the temp folder ok (167000 files/6.5 gb!).
But I dont understand the references to Visual Studio and in particular .net 4.0. What are these and where are they and how do I update them?
I see soniclight resolved the issue with updating .net4.0 .
If you receive this please help! I have lost a whole so far day trying to rectify this when I should have been converting .bmps to vectors.
