I'm trying to recreate the checkered flag on the truck. I have it created but whenever I weld the pattern, it turns all black. When ever I put a boundary on it, it takes the color out. Please help!
How do I get it to stay checkered???
I'm not sure why you need to weld it...? Can you attach the drawing please? I think I have a quick fix for you.
I'm super new to this.

the white squares aren't needed. The black ones don't line up properly either.
1. Create one block.
2. set your nudge to 2x the width of the block.
3. duplicate in place nudge block to the righ
4. repeat
wait...was this done in illustrator?
No need for strokes either.
no this was done in home & student....
I don't even know how to do strokes, I created it by just making squares and putting them together
outlines then. "Strokes" is an adobe term. Follow the steps above. There are many other ways to do it but that's the most simple explanation.

Thank you! I just remade it!
What's going the easiest way for me to curve it like the original picture I posted? I'm sorry that if I'm being a pain. You have made my life less stressful already!
You probably have outlines on by default. After drawing one block (step 1) right click on the X in the color palette (removes the outline) then proceed with the other steps.
hint: you can also hold the control key and click and drag from any corner of the block and drag it up and over then before letting go right click to create another adjacent block
group the whole checkered pattern then use the envelope tool to bend and shape
