i wanted to reduce size of cdr file , can some one plz help. i wanted to know whether we can change resolution ,colour ... its it possible to compress images with and without use of any software
I'd say bitmaps are the space hogs. If you downsample the bitmaps to the exact resolution you need for output, then you will reduce file size the most with the least effort.
Is there some macro, script to resample all bitmaps on a document to a desired resolution and color mode ?

Great question. I await the answer.
this is the good question we are all waiting for.... 3gb file is becoming unuseful.....
3 Gb means that something is wrong. If you use 300 dpi CMYK images, it's very difficult to have such as size for an individual file. Some people use very high resolution, that it's useless since the printing result can't reproduce more than 300/400 dpi. Change settings on th Publish to PDF could make a huge difference.
The best file compression is ZIP or LZW but if it's for digital printing, plotter, etc you can choose JPG with high quality.
Merge layers and remove objects outside the page could also reduce the file size (if you already has the PDF, you can do it with Acrobat, File/save as optimized PDF)
