Can anybody help me. I have created a basic design for a web page in photopaint X7 and now need to slice it up to proceed and build site. My issue is no matter what I try the slicing tool stays greyed out and is unusable. Can somebody please tell me how to resolve this issue?
Why slice an image, that is yesterday's practice because of low bandwidth. You should optimize it for the web.
My 2 cents
I dont believe that would help central section be able to stretch to fit page content
Ok, you lost me or I do not understand you. Slicing images for the web was used to speed up load time on the old slow dial ups. Nothing to do with sizing. Have not sliced an image in many years.
if you are saying slicing to make a small image fix in a bigger space on a web page and that slicing will avoid it being stretched, I never heard of or saw that and I have built hundreds of web site over 20+years. Simple html to very complex cms.
Perhaps slicing is the wrong word?
Perhaps, you designed web page as a full page image and now need the pieces to build the site?
But the main issue is the slicing tool remains greyed out and I cant find an image it actually works on! So I am very confused
Try this. Select (mask) the pieces you need one at a time, copy, new doc, paste then size and optimize/save for the web. Second piece repeat Till you have all your pieces as it's own image. Build your site
