I just had a look at Corel Connect. I can't find a way to have it display anything other than thumbnails. I tried to drag and drop a file into an open Draw document and a number one appeared in a blue circle, but no file. Not liking it.
I have been using Thumbsplus 8 but that doesn't display X5 and X6 thumbnails properly. Can anyone suggest any alternatives? Search and display are key features for me. Being able to display different file types is essential. Thanks.
Try Mystic Thumbs if yo need more file format thumbnails.

I haven't tried Thumbs Plus 8 but 7 displays perfect thumbnails of all CorelDraw files and cmx files.
Right click on a cdr file in TP, select Configure type.
Change Load File Using to : OLE and the combo box to the right of it to CorelDraw.Graphic.16.
Now you can get thumbnails as big as you like with superb resolution.
Also as Adrian suggests, Mystic Thumbs does a great job of displaying embedded thumbnails. I got it to show .psd thumbnails in windows explorer but it does a great job of .cdr's and pdf's.
I use ST Thumbnail Viewer daily and really like it because it will generate HUGE thumbnails in all sorts of graphic files.
Here's where you can check it out.

I tried STT a while back and it didn't work correctly. You just reminded me of it and I have just downloaded the trial again and it works exceptionally well. I don't doubt there are some thing that TP does that it wont, but it creates excellent thumbnails of very old (pre-enhanced Draw thumbnails) CDR files on the fly with no OLE necessary.
It also does thumbnails of Open Office file formats which for me is a bonus.
