I can't ungroup objects. This option has been greyed out.
Is there another way?
Are you sure the objects are in a group? Does it show as a "group of objects" in object manager?
The ungroup option will only be available if the objects are labelled as a group. But you may be able to use the "break apart" operation if you have a single object which consists of several sub-paths.
If that doesn't make sense in your case, it would be best to upload the file so we can check it out. Make a "Save as" copy without a colour profile to reduce the size and if it is under 256Kb you can upload it on the options tab when you reply.
my file is only 85Kb and when I choose it to upload it froze.
How can I upload?
Try copying the file to the desktop first. That will ensure that the file you are choosing for the upload is not already open somewhere.
Yes I did that.
I chose the file but can't click on open or even cancel.
and chrome itself can't even close. I had to to go task manager to end task
Time for a reboot, I think. If you cannot upload the file immediately after then I think you may have some other problems.
Are you aware of anything else that is not working correctly?
reboot did the trick. Now we can get back to the real problem
Corel won't allow you to ungroup the objects if you have applied certain effects or tools on a group. You have used/applied dimensions for the group. So there is a chance that the dimensions may change on editing the group after you ungroup. Hence it is not allowed. You should see "Group of 12 object on layer 1" instead of "Control Group of 12 objects on layer 1).
Work around :1) Break apart dimensions (This will keep the dimensions and its arrows but will have no connection with the group left. and then ungroup the objects. (NOT Recommended unless you are sure that the dimesions will not chnage on editing the objects)2) Delete the dimesions. Ungroup the objects. Edit the desired object and then reapply the dimesion.
This is the answer, Corel could easily tell you that they dont konw how to handle groups once an effect is applied. Took me hours to figure this out on my own.
