Cloning tool

The cloning tool for CorelDRAW X6 doesn't seem to work any more. I tried reloading the software because I wondered if I'd changed a setting without realising it, but it hasn't helped. Can anyone help me?

  • Are these 48 bit images ? Clone doesn't work for those. You will need to convert the image to RGB before you can use it.

Apart from that, I'm not aware of any problems with the clone tool.

    • To be hones, I don't know what sort of images they are. I've never converted the images to anything. The tool just stopped working yesterday, or the day before. Which sort of RGB should I try converting them to? The options I see are RGB 48 bit and PAL or NTSC. I loaded X4 up to see if the cloning tool works there, and it does.

      • The correct option would be convert to RGB Colour (24 bit) but if you already have 24 bit RGB, it will be greyed out. And if the file works with X4, that almost confirms it is normal RGB24.

I use the clone tool in PP X6.4 quite often, so if you have X6.4 and a file that clones in PP X4 I can't think of anything else at the moment.

        • I got an upgrade to 6.4, but then I had problems because I loaded X4 for into the computer, so I restored the computer and lost it, I guess. I shouldn't make a difference, though. I wonder if the X6 software has somehow become corrupted? Do you know if that's possible? Apart from that, thanks for your help.

          • Hello macpics; You can reset Corel by holding down the F8 key while starting Corel. That will give you a factory out of the box first install setup.

            • Hello, George.

Thank you and bless you! That worked! I'm relieved! Do you happen to have any idea what I did to change things, by any chance?

              • macpics, ANYTHING can screw up a system, people blame Corel but it's not always Corel's fault. A lot of times it's something that Windows is doing that doesn't let Corel finish what it's trying to do that will hang the program up. I find it best if you are working on something important in Corel just don't have other programs running. The newer computers with multi core CPU's should be able to, but to be safe.
