Hi I have recently purchased and installed Corel's new graphic suite x6. I have a couple of issues with the program. The first one is I cannot aquire images from my scanner. I have used it with the x4 program with no problems. When I go into corel x6 to aquire the option to select a source and aquire from the fly out tab are not accessable. Not sure why this is not allowing me to access this since I know the scanner is compatible with my 64 but pc and I have the 64bit x6 installed. Also if I am making a logo which has just text and I save it I can save and open the logo and also preview it in the open window. However when I go to print the text that I opened there is nothing on my printer preview screen and it will not print. I checked the layers on my manager box to see if they are all visible and they are but still nothing when I try to pirnt the logo. If anyone can help me with either of these issues it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much and have a great day
Hello,
Issue with scanning is that with Drivers for 64 bit scanners are not always true 64 bit.
Its been said on this forum before that
1)
Corel know about the issue of Manufacturers such as Epson, HP and Canon etcetera havent supplied true 64 bit drivers for their scanner. Canon say the do but many times they simply dont.
2)
Corel is with the first service pack going to solve this by fixing the 64 bit WIA for scanners.
Until this comes from Corel you can use a macro/user control from Softbotz who created a solution that works during this transition period.

Thanks for the suggestion. So far it is working properly i will give a few days and then purchase to unlock it. I have another problem that you or someone else may be able to help me with. When I type in a word using fonts in corel, if they are filled solid I can print them. However if I put no fill and an outline it will not print or preview. If I add a graphic scan or something like a rectangle that is filled it will show up and print. I am not certain why it is doing this. Is there a setting for printing outlined letters without a fill that I am not seeing. This only happens with the new x6 corel I have the x4 corel installed as well and it prints everything just fine. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
Tried it and got the same problem...
I got it to work by converting the outline to object, but something squirlly is going on, because to get it to show in print preview I had to select Fit To Page, Apply it, then go back and Select as in document. I did log it as a bug.
...as far as the Scanner control, I should have out a version that uses Twain out next week sometime...upgrades are free and those that want to try it with Twain that may be have a timed out version, I will be posting an extension code on the website when the Twain option comes out.
I have a support case open regarding this issue, I have an Epson Artisan 835 that prints fine but I am not able to scan with it using X6 64-bit.
I have been advised that it is a bug and has been reported.
Part of the reply to me from Corel Support.
"A similar scanner, the Epson Perfection 300, is installed on our Lenovo test machine, also with the latest driver and scanner software. Please be informed that this is a bug and has been reported. Please visit our website regularly for latest updates."
Hi Steve,
I had also been able to get it to print and preview by converting it to curves. However some of my fonts when converted to curves make the font appear different so I was hoping that corel will fix the problem so that I dont have to convert even making letter heads on corel wont print without a graphic added. Sent in a question directly to corel I am waiting on their reply I will post it if they have a different fix. Thanks again
