I want to know how to create a file to cut from a photo. i have a pictures of objects that i want to convert to a cut file almost like a stencil file so that it is cut out of the background piece and you can tell what you are looking at by the contour lines and outline lines that are cut. i know how to convert to a vector file, but i want minimal lines in the drawing.
I am not a big fan at all of any auto-tracing filters when it comes to using the resulting paths for any kind of cutting or routing through materials, such as aluminum or plastic. The paths are rarely ever clean at all. They'll often have technical issues such as overlaps, open path segments or cusp points where the corner is really exaggerated. A laser-based or water jet-based routing table can cut more precisely than a traditional routing table using a metal bit. Still, technical problems can occur with "dirty" vector artwork. And the finish quality of the routed edge will suffer.
That's a fact TRACE can be a starting point but you'll always need to clean it up.
