Windows 10 / CorelDraw x8 / Nvidia quadro p2000 / 16 GB RAM / intel xeon w-2123 CPU @ 3.6 GHz
It takes a full 8 seconds to copy anything in coreldraw. Doesn't matter what I'm copying. There's been problems with this issue dating back years and years on these forums and still not a clear fix. It only happens in coreldraw. I can copy an 8 MP photo in photoshop in a second but takes 8 full seconds in coreldraw to copy a single letter. Very frustrating.
For some reason every solution involves printer drivers (I have none loaded) or loading old Radeon drivers (I use Nvidia). I tried every win10 compatible driver release (clean uninstall each time) and they all have the same problem. I know it's the GPU because when I just use a generic windows driver there's no problems copying in coreldraw. But I get none of the benefits of a GPU.
PLEASE HELP!
Why do you even use such slow commands as "copy / paste" through the clipboard?
Corel has at least three alternatives to copy:
drag shapes with the mouse and press spacebar, drag LMB and holding press RMB, selects shapes and press grey "+". To move shapes between layers - use Object Manager and drag shapes in it. Between open documents, you can also drag objects from one window to another
I do that when I can between pages but a lot of my copy/paste is between separate documents. Even when you drag objects between documents it uses the clipboard and halts for the same 8 seconds.
which printer is your default — network or local? And how many monitors you have connected to your videocard - one or two?
I don't have a printer connected. I have 3 monitors. A 4k and (2) 1080s and after some experimenting it's definitely the monitors. The reason the copy worked so fast with the generic windows driver was because only one monitor was running. This seems beyond my control. If I upgrade my equipment it won't matter because Adobe runs perfectly fine and Corel just doesn't.
One of the reasons why copying / pasting takes so long is connecting 2 or more monitors to a video card. Although, for example, I have one monitor, also 4K, and copying also lasts 8-10 seconds.
In my opinion, the reason for such a slowdown is in OLE (object linking and embedding). For some reason, CorelDRAW has long been preparing shapes for embedding into other documents. He also rasterizes these shapes.
I have two CorelDRAW at home - x6 and x8, and so version x6 performs the copy / paste operation much faster
I don't have an issue with just the 4k plugged in. Anyway, it's an issue corel is going to need to address as 4k monitors come down in price. Especially with something as basic as copying. I shouldn't have to dumb down my hardware for corel only. It's instant in all other software. It's not even an issue with 3d advanced graphics software.
