Adding background behind images

I'm a seat-of-the-pants user of Corel Draw.  I have images and text that I want to put over a coloured background. The text is OK.  The images have a 'white' background and it's apparent over the colour.  I have tried a bitmap trace to remove the 'white' background but it degrades the quality of the image.  I knew how to do it once - lost in the mists of time.  Hopefully someone could remind me of the process.   This is what I have now ... I want the background colour to replace the 'white' on the images.

  • You could select the image, and then use the Transparency tool, selecting a suitable "merge mode" for the transparency.

For that image, you could try leaving it at 0% transparency, with "If Darker" for the merge mode.
