How to create & print sequentially numbered decals to a 54" roll of material.

I thought I'd try and just create one decal and use the print merge feature but I don't print from my workstation. I create the design in X7 then export it to a RIP Station for print. I thought I'd just do the print merge and print as pdf just to get the numbers without typing them. That gets me all the numbers in sequence but all on 500 separate pages.

Would someone kindly enlighten me on the best approach? No, I don't have InDesign. Might be able to use Omega?

  • Myron,

Have a look at this post from Mike in Canada.

He suggests using an imposition layout to accomplish that sort of thing.

  • I use Page Numbering for a lot of that stuff
  • hello, you can try this:
use the print merge function in coreldraw, but instead of "Perform Print merge" use the function "merge to new document".
This will create a new document with as many pages you need. Then export as pdf.
In the rip software you can arrange the pages according to the length of the roll.

It's really easy with a macro found in this package. Here's a video I made the other day where a user wanted a variable replaced on a pre-imposed layout.:
