I'm looking to do something like the 'dispersion 2 photoshop action' in PhotoPaint. Anyone got any tips? link to action in body of question.

Check it out here: http://graphicriver.net/item/dispersion-2-photoshop-action/8929152

I just think it's cool and I'd love to be doing something with it.

Anyone have an idea where to start?

I'd pay the maker of dispersion 2 if it worked in in photopaint (or paintshop pro), but as far as I can tell actions don't transfer like plug-ins do.

  • Instead of doing what I should do it seemed to be more funny to find out how to do something similar in CorelDraw and without PhotoPaint. I just made it very quick with a random photo from CorelConnect. But I am sure you can do it better if you take more time for the details - assumed that you want to do it manually.

While I was doing that I recorded my steps in the CDR file, but beware: as it contains the original image from the Corel library, it has become a 24 MB file. [:^)]

    Some additional thoughts:

    • It can be done with all kind of leaf brushes, cloud or splatter brushes or whatever brushes that appear to be good for such an effect.
    • When erasing parts of the arm, I should use an eraser nib that resembles the other brushes that I used before - or a PowerClip, that contains the background image, with that shape could be used to overlay the arm (I do not know (yet) how to change the eraser nib).
    • There might be filters that can make these flying objects look more liquid - these could also be applied in PhotoPaint if it proves to be useful.
