Keep in mind when you make a website in one of those do it yourself programs like wix or godaddy or a few others it is their website and not yours, you cannot move your site to another host, they own the layout/functions and provided assets like images, design elements. And you get to look like everyone else. Rubber stamp layouts. With all the extra codes in the site to make it automatic plus not being able to hand code the source presents very difficult SEO issues.

It this day of "responsive" websites be careful about menu navigation. You do not need images for menu buttons. You should use css3 to color/style the menu buttons, no image needed and it will play much better in a responsive environment. Look at this http://4podz.com/beta2/ and "roll over" the "Topics" link to see the roll down menu, roll over roll down menu to change state. No images, all css3 (none of these links work yet, new project just started.) Stay away from menu images if possible.

Search engines like lots of pages only if they conform to the rules of grammar, word % usage and are a relevant flow of info in relation to all content it's linked to on the site and not just word stuffing.

No need to submit anything to search engines (that was years ago), they find you when they crawl. Make sure they see what you want them to when they crawl. You should register your site on google maps yourself (free).

The reason "fonts change" is because the font must be loaded on the visitor's machine (use web safe font families) or you must load that font on the server and use css "@font-face {" to attach to the site.

WordPress is free open source but it is sql driven and always subject to sql injection attacks so you always have to update the core and all modules. This free software will prove to be far from free.

I suggest you first determine what you want your site to do and then get it done properly using just the right technology. It is my experience that both easy and cheap, and not just websites, in the long run is just the opposite result. Building a new site is very important to the success of your business.

A basic html editor would be well worth investing your time in learning or get someone who knows what they are doing to help you. Seek quality not easy and cheap unless you are buying a commodity meaning a branded product like soup or a TV. Skill and talent needed to market/brand/flavor a business is not a commodity. Thanks for your advice Bob, much appreciated :) I got so sick of files moving, fonts changing( was using square bt hardly an obscure font) but it still got changed, what is worse is fonts moving over pictures. Every time I opened the site something had moved! so I got cunning, I made my whole pages in X7 and exported it as a Jpeg, wacked on some PNG buttons for navigation, + hotlinked text on my home page.The host and software seemed to handle this, it cost US $30, I don't like anything free and there is a market hole for a robust builder/hosting that one day might be filled say $100?(hint to corel- Wb is clunky and we don't need templates). Having my pages inX7 - the host doesn't own anything of mine ha ha + no wasted time. I thought that making a site like this( all jpeg) would stop the search engines recognising text, but they still did! I might be better investing my money in a sign outside my house. Legally I can put up a one square meter sign.
So for my website, it is basically a folio type. I don't expect business from searches. I made posters and put them up in pet shops, art shops, cold call engineering shops and at horsey days. It is really a hobby until I am well enough to go back to architecture. Yeah we hate losing to Australia in rugby and have a long history of clashes with South Africa.

Woah thats a lot of code Bob! Is there an answer to simplify this in your opinion? I created a programme for an engineering company for, pricing lengths of tubing,cutting lists with offcuts, typically get6 or8m lengths and the price fluctuates daily. So I made a programme using spread sheet code in Vectorworks with calculations, off cuts, the workers wage vs his production (takes longer to pipe weld with even weaves than bird *** weak cold welding. Heck If I can do this, some wonderkid must be able to make a platform that reads web code and is stable? I'm not looking for a free one, nothing is free. A robust builder with hosting. I got a book from the library but by the time it is printed....Anything to avoid renting Adobe, cause when you dance with the devil you dance to his tune and don't stop till he says so. I was excited at corels prospect but disappointed, they need to start ground up and treat us like designers not hair dressers.
I tried saving to PNG but got nowhere, Jpeg was good. I like web buttons, I have a whole file of them, much more interesting than text. Anyway my web days are over for now after getting an insulting email from the hosting company. In New Zealand we joke about 2degrees of separation not 6.Wordof mouth is big here, My architecture boss didn't advertise for 20years and turned down work if he didn't like clients.Itried to make a website as a challenge as I was mending from cancer.
