I've been on this 4 hours.
On the image,
no 1. is a row of corn. Tiny I know.I had previously tweaked the Objects (about 900) with the Envelope tool. I converted it back to Curves afterwards to get rid of Envelope.
2. I then duplicate the row (Ctrl+D), but
3. when I move the duplicate a certain distance it throws a spastic. Interesting enough, it appears that it doesn't do it if nudged only a few mm. It looks as if the envelope still is interfering, because the distortion resembles the line of the envelope I cleared.
It appears that I cannot re-position anything if it is a copy of an object that had previously been tweeked with Envelope or Perspective tool.
