I've been using Coreldraw since 1995. I started with vr.2 and now up to X7. All Coreldraw versions have always been buggy. Some worse than other, but I have to say X7 is the worse. In my opinion, the only worth while thing in X7 is the new Smear Tool. That is one pretty cool tool that is way overdue in this graphics program. The version my co-worker and I were using before we bought X7 is X4. We are now back to using X4 because we have had enough with X7. What a waste of hard earned money. Am I and my co-worker the only ones who feel this way about X7?

Easy. Because his post is non-specific and does nothing to move the discussion forward. Instead he asks a question that's subjective at best.
If he's experiencing specific problems, there are existing threads he can add to. If he's found a new bug, he can start a new thread. In either case, specifics might be helpful to the programmers in finding the problem. Longevity is also no indicator of how strong a user he is - whether he uses the program to the fullest, or just in a few areas.
But whining solves nothing, even if he is a long-time user. Most of us are.

I've heard the same in every version, every time a new version of the program comes out. No "almost the same" but exactly the same: "this is the worst version ever", "this version is useless", "I prefer to keep using the older version", etc Some people have said that about X3, X4, X5, X6 and X7 now. I'm not saying that they lie. Except in some cases, they always come and see everything as negative, I guess that is sincere people who have problems and for them is a nightmare.
Two things are repeated every time it launches a new version:
First, a few users say they can not use the program due their mistakes, while the rest is used it daily without problems.
Second, the same people who were saying that one version is the worst in history, when it is launched next claim that the previous version (the same until a few days ago they considered as a hell) is the best version ever.
Some say "I can not believe the program will work well for others" or "Corel should pay you to lie". (Of course, that's not true). I understand what a person feels if the program you need not work well. It's a frustration and need someone to help and give an immediate solution.
Thanks George for your comments. Yes, I've had issues with all Coreldraw versions, but the question not being asked is "Why are there problems with all Coreldraw version being released to the consumer in the first place?" That is poor business practices that no one seems to have the guts to ask or confront the Corel Corporation. I have done so in the past and I get black balled for confronting their mistakes. With as many problems that all their version seem to have, you'd think the "Tech Support" would be free.
I too, use Coreldraw for the sign industry and there are some frustration issues with the draw program that never get fixed. Like...selecting a scale for drawings that we create for production. Why does the scale change when I select 3/4, 1½ or 3 inch equals a foot and changes to 1:16, 1:8 and 1:4. And why is there not a option to have the scale indicated as a tool on the status bar. Every time i need to check the scale of a particular drawing I have opened or imported, I have to: click on the ruler; select "Ruler Setup"; click on the "Edit Scale" button; view the scale (which might be on the 1: to whatever and try to remember what that means); then reverse my way out to my drawing. Major frustration!
Now, as far as those who think I need to be more specific about my complaint on X7, how about this for starters:
1. Why are objects imported or pasted on a working document automatically place to the back instead of to the front? X4 and I'm probably correct in assuming X5, X6 as well as X7 do this. Previous version (from vr. 2 thru 12) don't do this.
2. I am not able to save my screen preferences as a default. I jump back and forth from Wireframe to Enhanced View as I build my drawing. I can save this as my default on X4.
3. What is the purpose of moving the document with the rulers when you grab the title bar of that document? When I need to grab a guideline from the ruler and I accidentally grab the title bar of the document, I drag the whole document down. Now that's infuriating.
4. Why can I no longer use my right mouse button to use a sub menu in the Corel desktop area like I can in X4?
5. My ruler on the left side will suddenly jump over to the right side and I can't move it back unless I save my work and shut done Corel X7.
6. Another frustrating issue in the docking bar. It would be beneficial to us users if there was a locking feature so they can not be accidentally moved or closed out.
7. The "Fountain Fill" tool is totally wacked in X7. There was absolutely no reaseon to change that tool. It was supremely user friendly. The "new look" for that tool is aggravating and sometimes takes several clicks to select your color or presets not mention the silly icons that don't tell what they are.
8. X7 crashes if you click your mouse outside the preset preview in Fountain Fill.
9. Not being able to see your preview image of saved documents. Whether they are saved on the hard drive or on a disk, i.e., CD, Zip or Floppy.
10. Corel crashing when you save a document to an older version.
Those are the most immediate problems I and my co-worker face daily and would like to see addressed. I hope there are some answers for, at the very least, the scale issue and 1, 2, 3, 4, & 8. I guess issue #7 would have to be something we'd have to try and get used to if the Corel Corp. likes and wants us to use, for what ever reason. I'm sorry, but I just don't see the benefit with issue # 3. Never needed it with previous versions, and I don't need it now.
HI R.
As for #1 I'm not seeing this? If I drag import it put it to the top.
As for #2 mine is saving as enhanced. You might like this little macro to quick toggle between views.
Sub toggleView() With ActiveDocument.ActiveWindow.ActiveView If .Type = cdrEnhancedView Then .Type = cdrWireframeView Else .Type = cdrEnhancedView End If End WithEnd Sub
Assign a keyboard shortcut key or icon.
Seems a few of your other issues I am not duplicating either like the right mouse button. Have you upgraded to the latest version? Perhpas there was a problem with your workspace?
