Hello ross; First off X6 Does NOT have font imbedding. And X7 does everything that X6 does and a lot more, Color engine for one.

Because I am a new features junkie :)
Because I thought this was the most stable version released.....evar.
aaaand I was forced into it because it was required at my workplace.

What type of embedding are you referring to we embed in pdfs sometimes most of the time we export as curves or outlines if from illustrator.
we have issues with imposition, pantone colours and opening old documents. the only thing we can see as helpful for out work is transparency and the ability to finally place an outline in relation to a path. outside center or inline. but we still can't replace illustrator for the majority of work. Adobe's Layer technology is just better.
we also use X4 on 12 machines for laser engraving etc and just wouldn't use the features in x7 for that work.
Hi Ross--no good reason per se.
I only use CD for a few specific tasks. Mainly just for prepping some art for a few local screen printers, designing a little bit of it. Very little else.
I prefer to use XDP for drawing most art assets I need for publications when I have the choice. It's simply the fastest means from point A to point B. Even if the assets will need to be returned in AI or CD format, I'll do what I can in XDP (which ranges from everything to 80% or so).
I mainly do publication work. What I use for vector and bitmap work is not so important. Just the final file type.
