I am wondering if anyone would have a solution to this problem:
I am simply trying to combine objects and "knock-out" certain areas in a design but when I do so, the area that should be getting knocked out just fills in solid.
This is hard to explain... I tried to upload a file that I am having issues with but it is apparently larger than the size I can upload.
This has been happening with corel X6 and corel X7. It can be very frustrating and it really slows us down.
Any help is appreciated
John
Hello John; I used the Trim tool for the screen shot.
George
Thanks George
I have used the trim tool, the front minus back tool, the back minus front tool, and the combine tool. None of them have worked.
This does not happen to me every time but it does happen in a lot of our artwork. I cannot figure out why some will work fine and others will not.
Im still using x6 so cant open your file but....
Have you combined the two ovals>convert outlines to objects, fill the new objects gold and no other fill colors?
Here is the link for an X6 file. The same thing happens in both versions.
Mike - I have tried all of those things at some point in the past. I have been fighting with this issue in many files using multiple computers and using both X6 and X7.

I think the issue is related to "the winding rule." Make sure the curve direction is the same (clockwise or counterclockwise) for both the yellow oval and the white part you are trying to combine.

The problem is exactly this... it means u should use the shape tool>Reverse direction(top menu) then use Back minus front or combine or anything else. thanks man.
