Font Issue

I looked at the font and as Mike said : it is a problem with the font itself : it reports a descender of 0. The font designer needs to fix his font.

However, while it might not display properly, it is likely to print correctly.

I disagree. Script fonts like this often have low to zero descender values. The reason is for tight line spacing when there is more than one line. It isn't how I make my fonts, but it is valid. Specifically, this font uses 0 (zero) for the Win Descent (and the Typo Line Gap) . It does have values for Descender and Line Gap (which are different from the Win... settings). A font such as Gabriola has exceedingly large values for it all. Which makes it worthless for multi-line text.

Alipe Script has a Typo Descender value of -512 is why Xara Designer Pro, et al, do display this font properly, both in editing and post editing.

Aside from the above, can you explain why the font displays properly in X6 once one clicks off the text entry?

Interesting. The Typo Descender isn't something that is exposed by the OS. But we could read it directly off the font. Sounds like this value could be used to determine the area that needs to be rendered around the font logical box. I'll look into that.

I can't explain why X6 behaves different than X7. This makes no sense as this area did not change to my knowledge.

I'll look at this again and give you some more info. Don't expect an answer until after the holidays however. Today is my last day before my vacations :-)
