Arial 24 pt jumps in every time I click for a new text entry despite default size is set to Arial 12 (X7 Version 17.6 on Windows 10 Pro ).Pressing F8 when nothing selected properly shows Arial 12 pt, but as soon as I click to the page for actual new text entry it reverts back to Arial 24 pt. I need then manually set it to 12 pt each time. Restarting computer or updating to a new version does not help.
It is quite annoying feature, please help.
Try change Document - Styles
I have Corel 2017 and have the same problem. When I go to Document, I have all those options except "Styles". This doesn't work for me. I've clicked "save settings as default" countless times.
I have the same problem in CorelDraw X7 Home & Student V17.1.0.572
I have tried all the suggestions regarding setting the default font size but whatever I try as soon as I click somewhere to place text it reverts to Arial 24 point.Unfortunately it appears the Home & Student edition does not have an Object Styles docker - only Object Properties which appears not have the Default Object Properties option.
Has anyone any idea how to set the default font size or is it just something I have to live with in this cut down version?
I have never used Home & Student, and I don't know all of the differences between that and the "full" version of CorelDRAW.
You can try doing it using this method:
Here's a video where I demonstrate that with X7:
This may seem simple to some users, but it can get complicated in a number of ways - and I have no personal experience with how it works (or not) in Home & Student.
Thanks for the reply Eskimo
I have done the the first suggestion and if I create a new document and click the text tool the font size shown is what I set it to, 12pt as you can see in this image.
But as soon as I click on the document to insert some text it automatically changes to 24pt as you can see here
If I change the font size without clicking on the document I do not get a pop-up dialogue box you mention.

I don't know what options are available (or not) in Home & Student. In the full version of X7, this is where I can control whether that pop-up dialog appears or not:
That worked! Thank you so much. I don't see why Corel doesn't have it work when "Save Document Settings as Default" is selected, but your suggestion did work.
