Hello, amazing people! I am trying to submit the patterns to Shutterstock. It said in the instructions that the pattern fills need to be expanded. I don't use Illustrator and I wonder what would it mean for CorelDraw and what would be the corresponding/analogous or equivalent commands in Corel Draw to create the same result? Does it mean the patterns repeat itself when a customer will change the shape of the image or color etc.? Does someone work with Shutterstock and uses CorelDraw? Thank you very much in advance!
Here is how it works in Illustrator:
Expand Pattern Fills (ref: www.shutterstock.com/.../6-tips-to-follow-when-submitting-vectors-for-the-first-time)
All elements of vectors must be accessible so that customers can easily edit the files. Not all customers are using more recent versions of software that provide the ability to edit a pattern fill. For that reason, we require all pattern fills to be expanded.
Pattern fills can be included in your EPS file, as long as the the actual vector pattern in the EPS is expanded.
To expand a pattern fill in Adobe Illustrator:
Select the shape that contains the fillOn the menu bar go to Object > ExpandA dialogue box will pop upMake sure that “Fill” is checkedYour pattern fill is expanded!
Sorry, I don't understand what do you mean by "a compressed pattern fill". I think Shutterstock need to see a clean outline or outline of each shape, so people can edit the pattern. But I am not exactly sure, and they won't clarify that. I just wanted to know how to get the same result in Corel. I am sure that with Corel I can do same as with AI, it is just the commands have different names (the language is different).
I'm sure that's what they want. I gave up on Adobe products a few years ago and only access them via my clients who only have the latest versions. My observations from having to use and repair their files are what I use to base my discussions on. I do not believe the nomenclature used by Adobe to be accurate, expanded to me suggests to me something compressed however my observations tend me to believe that the Adobe pattern file that has not been expanded acts more like a CorelDraw set of objects (in my most recent case the set was 37,000 objects) that has been powerclipped. Our problem was that Adobe was unable to edit the pattern fill in a manner conducive with the clients requirements. Once the fill was expanded and after many experiments by my client I brought the expanded fill into CorelDraw powerclipped it and then we were able to apply the edits the client desired. I believe this is a feature like transparency and a few others where Corel and Adobe have chosen to provide similar services but in a different and non-cross application capable manner.
Although there's no such command as "Expand" on CorelDRAW, on most situations it means basically "remove special features for the object". For example, "Expand" a text will convert it to curves (sorry, is "convert to outlines" on his language). So, regarding to the pattern, I believe they want a simple and editable vector fill, not a "pattern fill".
Thank you. I will make sure everything is converted to outlines. I am building my collections now. When I submit it, I let the CorelDraw community know how it went.
Thanks.
Corel Help has this topic

However, not all tools are on the list, I think.
