I can no longer open a file I want to use without a 'crash'.. Other files open and work OK.
I have used F8 on bringing X7 up..
I have completely removed the software and reinstalled it..
Still no good. I was thinking of trying to install on another computer and trying that but that would be a lot of work (and the other computers I have are Win10 64) whereas my computer in a Win7 (32)
It there a way to 'repair the file'? I have the installation CD
regards
Steve
Is it a file that you are willing to share with others, for the sake of testing?
Sometimes it's the file that is sick in some way, and no amount of trying to fix CorelDRAW will help.
Yes - OK.. Its a multilayered plan of a stage. Saying the file is sick, when it was created and auto backed up by Corel is rather the fault of Corel, wouldn't you think?
Its 8MB - how do I send it?
Well - I am astonished.. I have searched for a repair tool, but nothing from Corel.
Tried the following..
Currently running CDR repair kit demo - takes ages.. and is chargeable third party..will report back.
Downloaded Trial of Xara.. only copes with coreldraw 3,4,5 - no good
One solution that did get all the detail back.. opened file using LibreOffice and saved it as a an open office graphic .odg, which was able to be opened using Open Office, with ALL the detail. Sadly - not able to put it back to a CDR - but the information all readable
So - there is currently one way to get detail back, but not from Corel. This is a serious omission !
Why yes, I would think it is rather the fault of Corel if a file has become sick in some way.
Best way to share a file of that size would be to put it somewhere on-line where it can be shared. I use Google Drive; others might prefer Dropbox, WeTransfer, etc.
CDR Repair kit - Ran for ages - Nothing..
At least I can print the contents via LibreOffice
