As you can see in this screen shot, the selected item has a red outline and blue fill, but the colors in the status bar show no fill and black hairline. When I send this to my laser it sees the no fill and black hairline. Is this a setting I can change? I like to be able to lock an item so I don't accidentally edit it while I'm working on the rest of the document.
I'm not understanding. You can't send a locked shape to the laser. And yes an outlines color and thickness means nothing to a laser. You'll have to convert the outline to a curve first then send to the laser. I do agree that the attributes should still be shown correctly even when the shape is locked.
An outline color and thickness absolutely matter to the laser, that's how the laser knows whether to cut or engrave the line, and you can sort the cuts/engravings by color or assign different settings to each color. You can also send locked objects to the laser, I've been doing it this way for a while. Only just recently got a new computer setup.
I stand corrected. In the "plotter" world it has a different function. And how do you send a locked shape to the laser? Has to be unlocked then send, correct?
Not for the laser I'm using, as long as an object is visible and on the page, it gets sent to the laser, locked or not.
Even if it's on a locked layer?
When it comes to Printing and Exporting, I think it works like this:
Since I don't know exactly how "sending to the laser" is being performed here, I don't know if it follows the same rules as Printing and Exporting.
