I am trying import a png into Corel Draw and never seem to get a descent vector output, after trying all the different available options (quick trace, high quality image, etc.). Seems all the lines are squiggly, fat and thin, gray and black, etc. The Png files are typically not super high resolution, so the prigram doesn't reproduce very well. The original would be fine, if it kept straight lines, like original, but of course no bitmap jaggies.
Trying to import this, without literally hours of rework
You could always try downloading an SVG drawing:
commons.wikimedia.org/.../File:Boeing_B-17_Flying_Fortress.svg
Thanks. So I downloaded the SVG file and that is pretty good :). The only problem now, is how to actually make all the different shapes on plane editable (add rendering, shading, base colors). All i can select are lines.
Use the "smart fill" tool.
Great! Thanks. Before I had tried your method, I exported the object out to a PNG file, then imported it back in. It seems to work too, but I don't think as sharp.
Also, I had another question. The smart tool sometimes goes over two or three spaces, when I do a fill. How do I keep it from spilling over, so to speak? The boundaries seem to be there, but some boundaries seem to be ignored.
You'll have to convert some of the black "outlines" to object cntrl+shift+q. then smart fill
This worked great! Had to fiddle with a couple of objects, but found I could send them to back, or even delete them :) Thanks again.
