When I go to the welcome screen and the cursor turns into a hand I can see my work intact. However when I click to open now there is a 1" strip of work missing from the top and rt. side. It appears my files are being corrupted. This has happened 3 times. Any Ideas I need help.

Let me clarify...did you "Export as JPG" or Export as TIF"? then, are you trying to open a TIF or JPG with CorelDRAW? if so, that's not possible. You must SAVE as CDR, then OPEN as CDR, teh native file format of CorelDRAW files.
If you EXPORT as image (TIF, JPG, etc) it becomes as an image, then it's not longer editable. You can IMPORT it to a new document, but you can't modify it.
