I have an alternative Font Manager FontExpert 2018. It can quickly search through all my hard drives and locate and catalogue any font files - I don't need to specify folder for it to watch. I probably have about 3,800 or font files spread across 6 partitions. Some of these are duplicates. It took about 25 minutes to complete the search and categorise the fonts.
Isn't Font Manager X8 able to do this for me or do I have to find and move all the font files into specific locations?
Thanks,
Nigel
Both FontNavigator (included on older versions) and FontManager allows to search the entire hard disk.
Usually we suggest to use one folder in order to know where are the fonts, if you want to add or download more fonts. Also, it's faster to check only one folder or a few folders.
I had more than 80,000 fonts, but after a great cleaning I left only 50,000, in sub-folders placed in alphabetical order.
FontManager can manage more than one million fonts...
I realised I had two versions of FontManager installed. I have removed X8 and this leaves 2017. The problem remains unchanged. I can add folders at partition root level but whichever I add the folder is not analysed and no fonts are found. With FontExpert 2018 Isimply get it to search for all fonts on my computer - not rocket science but currently not happening with FontManager. There is a refresh icon with two circular arrows which shows refresh when you hover over it. This is unfortunately, this is greyed out so is of no use whatsoever. :-(
I did try deleting the database files but this didn't seem to have any effect either.
