I'm thinking of switching my design software to Corel. I use VersaWorks for a Roland printer. I just want to make sure Corel will send to VersaWorks. Any input would be appreciated.
Are you going to use the RIP? If so it's a successful combination using a PDF workflow.
yes we will be using the rip
You will do best to make sure VersaWorks color management setting match Draw rather than the other way around. VersaWorks uses assumed color spaces for EPS and PDF workflows.
We use Coreldraw with Versaworks on a daily basis. Export as EPS or PDF and import file into Versaworks. No problems. If using the cut contour (if your Roland does print and cut) make sure the EPS export option for "Convert spot colours" is unticker or the cut line will be converted to CMYK and not work on Versaworks. If exporting to PDF to print / cut, same thing. Under color tab, leave "Convert spot colours to" unticked.
PDF export to VersaWorks has been perfect for print in cut for us. Native color PDF starting from default print with default settings works if you want the default crop positioning.
I never use EPS unless forced to because it lacks modern color management.
