How to fix unable to load VGCore.dll.error code.126

I theoretically updated to CorelDRAW 8.1. I had propblems saying it wouldn't install because another installation is in progress. At one point, I disabled the "msiserver" program running ... showing up in Task Manager, and I was allowed to install the update once the task was ended and after a restart. When I tried to run CDX8.1, I got "unable to load VGCore.dll.error code.126" and it won't open (obviously).

Anyone have any ideas? I tried to REPAIR CDX8 through the UNINSTALLER, but get the same message saying another installation is going on.

  • It gets better. I said "to heck with it" (in corser words) and restored my PC to two days before I upgraded to CorelDRAW X8.1. All is good ... EXCEPT ... I cannot open a CDR file when X8 is open. It says It cannot find the support filter, or something like that. I can DOUBLE-CLICK on the file itself and that will open whether Corel is closed or not. Nuts!!! Should I just uninstall and reinstall CDX8? Don't want to if I don't have to.

    Thanks for listening.
