I am now using CorelDRAWX8 I used to be able to edit a bitmap from draw it would open up paint then i could make my changes save and it would be back in draw now the edit bitmap button is not active how can I fix this even if I right click is does not give me the option to edit the bitmap please help thanks Deb
This has been an issue for, well forever! The problem is the registry entry is not separated by CDGS version. So when you uninstall it removes the entry and causes it to break other installs, moreover, the last version installed becomes the version used in all versions installed. This is why a repair usually works as it will rewrite the registry.
Ah I spoke too soon so yes the edit bitmap feature allows it to now open in photo paint4 instead of 8 however the tools do not all work....eraser tool pick color tool painting in a masked area.... geez and how to get it to open up in paint 8 instead of 4

You need to uninstall X8 completely and reinstall X8 follow the instructions I gave you in a previous post. make sure you select a custom install and install EVERYTHING. Especially Photo-PAINT
Because X4 is the last version of CDGS you have installed on your PC it has set the “global” setting CDGS uses on all installations that you have on you PC for accessing PP through Draw. You will need to run the setup disk or download that you installed X8 with; because X8 is currently installed it will give you an option to repair, select that and run.By doing this, it will write the “global” setting to open PP X8 and will load PP X8 within Draw X4 and X8 just like it is loading PP X4 in Draw X8.This is a common problem and once you understand that the "one" setting affects all installations, and the last version installed overwrites any existing setting, it becomes easy to understand the problem.Lastly, you don’t need to uninstall, just run a repair.
