Yes, you can.
My personal recommendation is to start by going to Options>Workspace and creating a new Workspace to experiment with and become familiar with workspace customization.

Something that may be less obvious than the toolbars is the ability to do the same sort of customization on menus.
Something that was even less obvious - to me - is the fact that the Context Menus can also be customized in this way.
I have removed a lot of stuff from some of those context menus, and find them to be more useful to me now.
