Hello,
I make industrial Tags, and have a template of tags set up with Text in the Center Tag and my properties for the text is centered. My Font is Arial. When I put certain numbers or letters in, it's not perfectly centered any more.
For Example, if I put the word "Center" in the text. It will be fine, but if I use type in "Center1" then it will be off center.
Any input would be helpful.
Thanks
Pat.
drop your cursor behind the 1. Notice that little white space. It's not on the letter r. I'm not sure the technical term but the number one has to have that space because it run to close to other characters when typed out.
Myron, thanks, yep that's what I figured, but I just wish it would stay exactly centered in box. I can use the envelope tool, but then to edit the text I have to use the text editor.
With snap to Objects on (alt+z) grab the center of the text and move it around to the center of the rectangle and it should snap to center
Alternately. select the text then shift select the rec and hit the letter c
Myron, yep, that's what I do today. but just trying to take some steps out of the process. I'm thinking about using the envelope tool and creating a csv file, then using print merge in the future. Thanks again
There might be some ways to use VBA macros to re-align things after editing or doing a Print Merge.
Here's an example where, for each piece of Artistic Text, I have it check what shapes are present at the center point of that Artistic Text. Of the shapes found at that location, if only one them is named "Align_Rect", then the macro aligns the Artistic Text to that shape.

For that example, I'm having it center the text both horizontally and vertically. It would be just as easy to have it do only horizontal alignment, if that suited your needs better.
It would be easy to use a macro to assign the name "Align_Rect" (or whatever name you preferred to use) to selected shapes to identify them as alignment targets.
