I am having issues with the gradient (fountain) fills when exporting to EPS and PDF. They are banding and even reversing. I have them set to auto-increase fountain steps when applicable. This is a 3-point fountain fill. I tried to change it to 2-point, but similar results. I have checked to make certain all colors are from the same palette.
I have not seen this problem up until now. I have not changed any of my settings, and in the years that I have had X8, I have never received any patches, fixes or updates. Each time I checked it said none were available. This version seems very squirrely at times, often locking up or requiring a restart to regain some features. There just seems to be less manual control in X8 on this exporting feature, and it appears the automatic increase is not doing the job. Below is an example of what I am experiencing. Any tips or suggestions are welcome. Thanks!
They tend depending on if they're created properly output fine but EPS does not support complex fills well and reimporting into AI or CD does not work well but the RIPs output them smooth as can be. Fixed in 2017 and 2018.
I have seen variations in preview display, yet had them print fine. The way I test is to send it through to the office printer; however, when I send this to the printer in the office, they still look like the improper preview display. I am handing this over to a non-profit that will be doing their own printing and am concerned they will not know how to communicate the issue and have problems with their end result.
Never a good idea to make an eps if Fountain Fills are involved. Pdf should be fine though.
