Hi Forum members,
I have a concern which is. When I create for e.g; a square whatever the size. And I make it 2pt in thickness. I then convert outline to object via the menu. Then here is the problem when i resize the shape it does not keep the 2pt thickness? Why not? And what can i do to keep the converted 2pt shape the same thickness no matter what size.
Yes, the "fail safe way" would be to convert the outline to curves then the scale would always be correct. I'm really not convinced that the outline had been "converted" as you say. Or your perception of "scaled" isn't what you're desiring. Another way would be to set the outline to scale with shape. Double-click the outline color well and check "Scale with object". I caution using this method though. If you stretch or skew the object after checking that the outline will not be correct.
Thanks for the reply. I found the "scaled with object". But it only works with a shape that has a line thickness of say for example a shape of; 2pt, red colour, 3inch squared, and then I can use scaled with object. However I have to convert outline to object via OBJECT menu. As I am designing a typeface in outline style. And need to find away around this issue. After doing the convert option, it does not allow me to select scale with object. With options greyed out. Does this mean there is no answer.
??
Here is an image helping to show what I mean.
A shape with a 2pt outline that is NOT set to "scale with objects" will always stay 2pt when resized.
With scale with objects set the outline will do just as intended by definition. It will scale up or down accordingly.
Converting the outline to curves is essentially the same as scale with object except that you now have two shapes.
